The rationalists erred in not realizing that a question, however fundamental, needs a project, but existentialists and pragmatists also erred in not realizing that a project also needs a question. The interested and the disinterested depend on each other. Plato after Sartre: we should really speak not simply of a “fundamental project”, but of a fundamental project-question.

This is what Plato's Socrates had.
