The path from logic to fundamental ontology immanent to ancient dialectic passes through logistic. From logike tekhne, or the sheer discipline of syntax, questioning leads necessarily to logistike tekhne, taken first as the study of proportions themselves, as if simply objective. Suddenly, one has enough expressive power for dialectic: the possibility of posing the problem of the relations that one is knowing, to the relations of one’s knowing.

And the leap into what dialectic shows, viz., its sequence of unsurpassable and intensifying dualities, is fundamental ontology if anything is.
